Mogadishu, Somalia – The CAHDI Party (CAHDI), a full member of Liberal International and a steadfast advocate for constitutionalism and federalism in Somalia, Cahdi expressed gravest concerns over what we view as a continuing pattern of political cynicism and unilateralism by the President and the Federal Government.
Professor Abdirahman Abdiqani Ibrahim, Chairman and Presidential Candidate upcoming election 2026 of the CAHDI Party, stated, “Once again, we witness the President Re-calling his irregular ‘consultations’ rather than demonstrating genuine readiness to nullify the constitutional irregularities & illegitimate unilateral electoral commision He has orchestrated and to pursue legitimate constitutional means.”
The CAHDI Party highlights a disturbing trend where announcements for “national consultations” appear to be a mere smokescreen for advancing a narrow, partisan agenda. “We observe with alarm that instead of fostering an inclusive national dialogue, the President seems intent on convening meetings primarily with his unilateral and extreme party and registered so- called decorated association mostly members of party ”.
The recent actions of the Federal Government, particularly in pushing through contentious constitutional amendments and purportedly engaging in “consultations” through the National Consultative Council (NCC), CAHDI Party urges as deeply flawed and lacking in genuine inclusivity and constitutional legitimacy.
“The integrity of our federal system and the very foundation of our democratic transition are at stake,” Cahdi Party insists, “True national consultation must be based on broad consensus, respect for the constitution, and the genuine participation of all federal member states, political parties, and civil society organizations. It cannot be a convenient platform for consolidating power through a newly formed political vehicle as there is no railway of the Train.
The CAHDI Party reiterates its call for:
* Nullification of Irregularities: An immediate cessation and reversal of all unconstitutional amendments and unilateral decisions that undermine Somalia’s Provisional Constitution.
* Genuine National Dialogue: The establishment of a truly inclusive and constitutionally mandated national dialogue that respects the federal structure and ensures the participation of all legitimate stakeholders.
* Adherence to Rule of Law: A commitment from the Presidency to uphold the Provisional Constitution and facilitate a democratic transition that builds trust and unity, rather than exacerbating divisions.
“The future of Somalia depends on principled leadership that prioritizes national unity and constitutional integrity above partisan ambitions,”
The CAHDI Party remains committed to working towards a stable, democratic, and prosperous Somalia, built on the pillars of justice, equality, and genuine democratic federalism.”
